Libby was in not-so-rare form. Teagan was cold so Libby brought her a king size quilt. Nice as that was, it was a little too big. So they both played around in it. Working hard? Not really.
They wanted me to put on some music while we worked. I usually do. It's nice to have some background music sometimes. So I decided I would put in the CD Mrs. Rebecca gave us at church that has their choir song on it. They need to be learning it. What'd they do? They got the dance bug when they realized what song I had. Working hard while listening to music? Not really.
So Teagan starts doing her English. Let me remind you that we're using Bob Jones University homeschool English and our theme for this chapter is all about fish, sea life, and aquariums. Today we worked on nouns and compound words. Teagan's sentence was about a boy named Patrick who found a starfish.
Can you guess what happened next?
If you guessed that she used her own knowledge to tie the sentence to "SpongeBob," then you're right. Now who wrote this book? Is this a coincidence? I am happy, at any rate, that she used her noodle. Hopefully when she watches another episode she'll think about compound words.....riiiiight. She thought it was so funny, that she threw her legs up on the table and I this is what I saw.....
That in front of her are some cards we made of nouns that we can put together to make our compound words. That was a joke session as well because all the words you try to put together before finding the correct match are funny words. Barnboat, childsea, and fishwreck just to name a few. Working hard? Nah....
Shortly after, while Teagan was doing her English workbook page, I noticed she had her finger stuck up beside her nose and I was like, "Teagan what are you doing?" And she smiles and says, "smell my finger." LOL! I said, "Oh Nooooooo, I am NOT smelling
your finger!" So, of course, she tries to make me......
I finally put Teagan on the dry erase board to list the nouns I was calling out to her, putting them in the correct column. I thought, oh, this will be a cute picture. Then I realized....
Neely, thank goodness, was not as wild as Teagan today. She reviewed her spelling words and took a spelling test....
I finally just called the game. Funny how Neely perked up then! Teagan was already having a good time, so it didn't matter to her. Although she did finally get to make that guitar she had mentioned about 37 times during the 3 hours we did work. Very creative if you ask me!
We'll just pick up tomorrow where we left off today. It'll be a new day. And, hopefully, they will be back to normal. Crohn's won't allow me to drink alcohol, but if it did......today would be the day.
