We got started today around 10 a.m. Teagan chose to practice her piano first. Notice that shoes are optional which is great considering we have a shoe bandit at our house that thinks hiding one to each pair is funny. Her first lesson is today. She goes in the slot right before Neely, so we'll be there for an hour on Mondays. I taught her what Neely learned at her first lesson the week before Labor Day. She did well with it. Her hand-eye coordination is more on point than Neely's. Neely had to practice a little longer than Teagan to get it right.
We wrote our spelling words on flashcards and played some number word bingo AND cumulative spelling word bingo. She likes that. After we did sight word bingo, I asked her to show me the words with short vowel sounds (I called out specific vowels).
Now that she knows her number words, I think we can start in the first grade Singapore Math book. I wanted her to know them because that is what the text begins with. She may not be able to take a spelling test with them, but she can definitely recognize them. That'll work. Naturally, I'm nervous about it. But Neely knows everything I put in front of her as far as Kindergarten math goes. If I happen to come across something she needs to work on then that's what we'll do.
She also tried to put a puzzle together. She still needs to work on that. They are not too easy for her, but she likes to do them with help.
