I found $12 in my washing machine (which is my money when I find it!), and I shared it with the girls and we enjoyed an ice cream after the orthodontist. That was a yummy surprise treat! Thanks to whoever decided to pay me! Ha-ha!
The worst part about today is that my house is a MESS! Every room but the classroom needs a cleaning.
I told Neely that when she reads 20 books, she's good for one $10-$15 Barbie (Teagan needs to read 10 books on her level or higher for this incentive). So, Neely was reading away today...lol She had already logged 14 books, so she finished out her 20 and wanted to go to Toys-R-Us right away. Of course, I told her we'd have to go tomorrow.
she'll do great! Her story this week is Henry and Mudge (Realistic Fiction), and we will start planning and drafting a personal narrative as soon as we can. She was freezing today, so we broke out a warm, fuzzy jacket. The classroom is the coldest room in the house, with two vents blowing ice cold air.
I was also able to find Teagan some new science books...well...new to her! I found the BJU Science 2 student/teacher set on eBay for $12.00! It's the edition right before the new one, but as all college students learn, not much changes except the order in which they put chapters and information. Students waste so much money on new textbook editions every other year. Authors love it!
We decided to change the science book because BJU offers an excellent hands-on curriculum and that's what we want. I think kids learn more and are able to retain information when they have fun and are able to actually see science happen! Looking forward to getting it!
