I got my hands on some GREAT readers for our science library! I am so excited! Often times, you can find me scrolling book lots on eBay for the best deal for my money. We don't have lots of money, so I really have to be smart about my purchases for our homeschool. I bought all but 5 of these new readers in two lots for a total of $30! That's $0.30 each! Wow! that's 100 books about all things science---Animals, atoms, life cycles, the human body, Earth and space, and so much more! And if you order books for you children from Scholastic, you know each of those readers are an average of $5.99 each. In the lots, I found an equal amount of kids science magazines, hardbacks, and paperbacks. The book displays that I was going to sell, are now being used to house a science library! I just love it. The girls were trying to read and look while I was trying to set it up. Imagine that. It tickles me that they are as excited as i am....about SCIENCE books!
I am going to look into setting us up a science table as well. Maybe we can do inside experiments on it or display bug cages or something.
I am a married, South Carolina homeschooling mama to 3 of my 4 girls. I'll be honest; they drive me NUTS sometimes. But, I am here to tell you that I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world! I'm not your typical homeschool mom. I am not an over-achieving Martha Stewart. I am just a plain, everyday, laid back, patient person. I occasionally slip up a cuss word when I step on Legos, and I mean every word of it. I partake in adult beverages whenever my BFF, a former homeschooler with her MSN who landed an awesome job as a college nursing instructor, can get away so we can reminisce about the good old days. Where most moms can relate, I love my children. Homeschooling has been a blessing for my family, and I am so thankful that I have been able to continue into a second year.
