Teagan had two tests to take: Reading and English. I hate that she had to take two in one day. I will have to make sure they don't land on the same day anymore. She did great. I am glad I am logging in good grades! I get a little nervous when she takes a test because I know that how she does on her test is a reflection of how I am as a "teacher". If she fails, I didn't do my job. So far, so good!
Today, she started on Chapter 4 in math, triple digit addition with renaming. I really want to teach her how the book tells me to, but I find that I confuse myself! I didn't learn it the way it teaches it, but we worked out the problems in several different ways using visuals and focusing on place value. Understanding place value plays a huge role in mastering the concepts in this math. We finally figured out a good way to explain it together. We start in the ones column to see how many are riding the bus over to the tens, but they can only travel in tens. She finds it humorous that sometimes the mama ten has to leave her little children behind (the ones), and go get on the bus without them. I am sure that's confusing to y'all, but when we do it it's OK. We used base ten cubes at first and changed out the ones for tens before we started doing it mentally. She picked it up fairly quickly, THANK GOODNESS.
I really like this because it allows me some time with the other without interruption or disturbing. AND it's helping them to learn their words independently. That's one area I don't have to work on them with as much.
Once she got tired of her stations, she was zooming around trying to find something to get into. She thought it'd be fun to be teacher for a while (she really just wanted to spin). Then she thought it'd be fun to climb the easel. She finally conked out on the couch with her book and Ursula. I thought it got quiet around here.....
classroom and one bathroom is clean. I'm left with the bedrooms and one
bathroom. And the dog needs a bath. Ugh.
In case you may be thinking that this day went well, it did. It's almost as if I am
getting into the supermom mode. I can assure you I'm not. I am tired! I'm not
built to be this prepared every week....maybe not even daily!
