It's just Wednesday and we have had a blast already! We have been reading Little House in the Big Woods (a chapter a day) and today we are on chapter 6. I read it aloud. I'll be honest. Reading aloud is not my favorite thing to do, but I know I have to and the girls enjoy it. If you haven't read it, it's good so far. It's all about life long ago when you killed your own food, sewed your own clothes, and Santa brought mittens and handmade dolls (wouldn't that be nice!). The sisters in the story love to hear Pa tell stories, and my girls are on the edge of their seat when one comes up. The stories are so good. Even though I don't particularly like reading aloud, I am a great storyteller. I read well and with wonderful enthusiasm, and I can come up with some pretty decent stories of my own. =) So we got to one today that had us laughing so hard we were crying! I had to stop reading so I could laugh! The girls' eyes were so big with excitement and wonder and before I knew it they were rolling around on the floor laughing and asking me to read it again. And that's what I did.
One thing I have implemented this week is getting our blood flowing through some indoor exercises. This is funny because...it just is. I told all the girls to get up and stand in the middle of the floor. They thought I was about to give them jobs to do. They had been lazy all morning, not wanting to do much. When they were all ready for their orders, I said "now give me 10 jumping jacks!" They thought I was crazy until I started. LOL Madeline died laughing. I know it was funny because she's never seen me do jumping jacks and probably hilarious due to my bounciness. Thankfully, we have a bottom floor apartment! It got even more funny when we did air bicycles. We all had tears. It's been so long since I had done that exercise, I had to rock and roll (several times) just to get my hips and back up in the air. So after those and leg lifts and squats and stretches, I can barely walk today. This morning the girls asked excitedly, "are we going to do our exercises today!?" And we did. ;)
