Neely was a reading machine today! She wanted to read book, after book, after book! The few words she couldn't sound out, Teagan helped her with which I thought was sweet. That's exactly the sort of kindness I want to see in our school. And not just school, but all the time. I am hoping homeschooling will help them build a special bond that will last forever.
We got around to making our South Carolina outline map today and marking the capital. They were very worried when I showed them mine. They did not have the confidence that they could draw an outline of the state, but they did great! I told them they could do it if they just tried. They are very happy with their work.
Libby must have left her monster in bed this morning. She was wonderful today. Here she is taking a break from Dora to take a look at one of our library books. This is the bookcase I use to keep those separate from our personal collection. If they ever get mixed up, we'll never find them!
I am a married, South Carolina homeschooling mama to 3 of my 4 girls. I'll be honest; they drive me NUTS sometimes. But, I am here to tell you that I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world! I'm not your typical homeschool mom. I am not an over-achieving Martha Stewart. I am just a plain, everyday, laid back, patient person. I occasionally slip up a cuss word when I step on Legos, and I mean every word of it. I partake in adult beverages whenever my BFF, a former homeschooler with her MSN who landed an awesome job as a college nursing instructor, can get away so we can reminisce about the good old days. Where most moms can relate, I love my children. Homeschooling has been a blessing for my family, and I am so thankful that I have been able to continue into a second year.
