Though we didn't do any school work over the break, we did read. The girls read and I read to them. Neely is still doing so very well with reading. She loves to read! That makes me happy! Teagan is getting into it more, too. Santa brought her a Kindle for Christmas, and she has been reading up a storm (in between playing her games).
This week starts a new unit in math for both girls. Goodbye plain Jane addition and subtraction, and hello measuring! It is the next unit in Teagan's book, but I skipped ahead in Neely's so they can both do measuring at the same time.
Neely had fun learning about "units" and measuring with objects like paperclips, crayons, pencils. We learned that her hand was 6 paperclips long, and her foot was 7 paperclips long, the same length of Libby's face. =)
Meanwhile, we have begun to learn about the states of matter. Teagan read us part of the reader we are using and they wrote and drew in their science journals about gases, liquids, and solids. Funny thing, my girls.....Their humor is much like what I would expect from boys (of course, I wouldn't know!). It was brought to my attention by Teagan that bodies produce all three states of matter---gas, liquid, and solid. Hey! At least she's got the idea! I just go with it! =)
