So I know you are wondering who in the world picked up those bugs and bagged them?? Well, it wasn't those girls! They dug around and found them, and I had to pick them up--with a stick! Ha-ha! Thank goodness Granny wasn't here because she would have high-tailed it home in flat minute!
By letting the girls run a slightly different course (as homeschooling allows), they have 3 bags full of, not only Earth's materials (like rocks, dirt, leaves, bark), but something we can sort out as living and non-living. We can even sort bugs by color, how many legs, "crunch" factor, antennae; the list goes on and on! I can't wait to dump out their bags and let them try to look at those creepy crawlies with a magnifying glass. They were awesome observers today and had so much fun. Perhaps they'll have a good question tomorrow that we can turn into a science experiment!
